Knock Out Racism, One Punch at a Time

We stand united against racism and online extremism. Our KO Racism Campaign leverages boxing to educate and inspire young minds about the beauty of multi-culturalism and the dangers of the extremes.

The Film Project:

Limehouse Boxing Academy played a pivotal role in the creation of a documentary chronicling the history of boxing and immigration in London’s East End. With funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the academy collaborated with a group of passionate teenage boxers to explore the connections between immigration and the sport. The participants, driven by their love for boxing, embarked on the project to convey their findings through film. Lead Filmmaker Alex Ayre from Tyneside Cinema’s Learning team guided the process. The academy facilitated interviews with prominent figures like former British Middleweight Champion James Cook and world champion Maurice Hope, who shared personal experiences of immigration and racism, contributing to a contemporary dialogue. Through their involvement, Limehouse Boxing Academy transformed their passion for boxing into a compelling documentary project that shed light on the history and struggles of immigrant athletes.
